Caregiver – CNA/HCA | Flexible, Variable-Hour

Location: Bremerton, WA | Serving Kitsap & Surrounding Service Areas

About the Position

Generations Home Care is looking for dependable, compassionate caregivers to join our team and provide quality in-home care to clients throughout our service areas.

We welcome CNA/HCA-certified caregivers as well as caregivers who are not yet certified but are willing to complete the required Washington State HCA training pathway. Experience is preferred, but not required.

This is a variable-hour position, which means your schedule is based on your availability, client needs, and the shifts currently available in your preferred service area.

We offer available shifts to our caregivers, and you choose the shifts you are able to accept. Depending on your availability and client needs, you may have the opportunity to work with multiple clients and pick up additional shifts.

Our Current Service Areas

Our current service areas include:

Central: Bremerton, Silverdale, Keyport South: Port Orchard, Olalla, Gig Harbor North: Indianola, Poulsbo, Suquamish, Bainbridge Island, Kingston, Hansville West / Other: Belfair, Seabeck, Shelton, Allyn, Vaughn, Fox Island

Please note: Client availability varies by location. Applicants must have reliable transportation and be able to consistently travel to the clients they accept within our service areas.

Vacation and sick time accrue at 1 hour each for every 40 hours worked, with eligibility to use accrued time after 90 days of employment. Required annual CNA/HCA continuing education is provided online at no cost, and training shifts and additional education are paid at the base rate.

Pay

Your pay depends on your certification status and the length of the client visit.

Certified CNA/HCA
  • 1-hour visit: $42/visit
  • 2–3 hour visit: $31/hour
  • 4–6 hour visit: $25/hour
  • 7+ hour visit: $23/hour
  • Live-in care: $330/day
NAR / Uncertified Caregiver
  • 1-hour visit: $33/visit
  • 2–3 hour visit: $26/hour
  • 4–6 hour visit: $21/hour
  • 7+ hour visit: $19/hour
  • Live-in care: $314/day
Additional Pay
  • Couple Care: Additional $3/hour
  • Gap Pay: $17.13/hour for qualifying travel between shifts of 90 minutes or less
  • Mileage: $0.76/mile when driving a client during a shift with your own vehicle and required documentation
What You'll Do

As a caregiver, you may assist clients with:

  • Bathing, dressing, grooming, and other activities of daily living
  • Mobility, ambulation, and transfers
  • Hoyer lift and other appropriate transfer assistance
  • Meal preparation
  • Light housekeeping and laundry
  • Medication reminders according to agency policies and procedures
  • Companionship and emotional support
  • Accurate and timely care documentation
  • Communicating with clients, families, and the care team
  • Using agency technology for clocking in/out, task tracking, and documentation
  • Maintaining a safe and clean environment
  • Following infection control and safety procedures
  • Providing respectful, compassionate, and professional care
Requirements
  • Current Washington State CNA or HCA certification, OR willingness and ability to complete the required HCA training pathway
  • Current Food Worker Card, or willingness to obtain one
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check
  • Reliable transportation
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to reliably travel to clients within our current service areas
  • Strong communication skills
  • Dependability and reliability
  • Compassion, patience, and a genuine desire to help others

How Our Scheduling Works

This is a variable-hour, client-based position rather than a traditional fixed schedule.

We have different clients with different needs, schedules, and shift lengths. We will offer available shifts based on your availability, preferred locations, and qualifications, and you can choose the shifts you are able to accept.

Some caregivers work with one client, while others choose to take on multiple clients and additional shifts.
